Meditation Technique by Swami Tattvarupananda

Swami Tattvarupananda is an invited guest of the Kerala Center. An Indian monk, Sannyasin Swami Tattvarupananda, who is called "Laughing Swami" by his disciples for his easy disposition and carelessness.

Everyone needs to spend some time alone with themselves and such a pastime is now called meditation or spiritual practice. Each of us strives to become happy and maintain this state, regardless of external circumstances. Hence the question arises: what should one do to find one's true self, whose nature is boundless happiness? To find this inner harmony, a person simply needs to devote some time to himself every day - give a date with yourself half an hour every morning, and this will help you become happier. Happiness never comes undeservedly, it needs to be earned, it has nothing to do with fleeting luck. To be worthy of happiness, you need to pay attention to it every day, pay attention to yourself. This is what we call morning meditation.

It is best to do this practice early in the morning between 5 and 6 o'clock. The first thing we do is cleanse the body: before meditation, we need to empty the intestines, take a shower and wash. It is very important to feel fresh and clean physically.

Clothing should be comfortable and not restrict movement. If you can sit on the floor, this is very good, otherwise, arrange yourself in such a way that you are comfortable. You can sit on a pillow or on a chair, the main thing is that the back is straight, that is, the head, neck and tailbone are on the same line. You should feel the breath moving freely through the whole body.

When you sit properly, you feel that your body is light and nothing will prevent you from sitting in this position for a long time. Once you are comfortably settled, start consistently relaxing all parts of the body, starting with the toes and ending with the top of the head. Let's give a conscious command to relax every part of the body.

After the body is completely relaxed, take deep breaths. If you know any breathing exercises, you can perform several to better concentrate. If you do not practice yoga or spiritual practices, do not worry, just inhale deeply and then exhale slowly. Let your mind be fully engaged in the process of breathing, forget about your physical body. Take 10-15 deep breaths and exhale and move on to the next stage of practice.

Concentrate your mind on one object: it can be the heart center or the area of the third eye – choose the object on which it is easier for you to concentrate. The main thing is that the mind should be focused at one point. When your attention stops being distracted, you can start visualizing an image that is pleasant to you. If you are a follower of any denomination, you can represent the image of the deity adopted in your tradition. And if you have your own mantra or favorite prayer, start repeating it to yourself. 10 minutes is enough, and then stop saying the mantra and sit in silence. Try to just be yourself and do nothing for 5-7 minutes. If you have time, you can sit more, but don't force yourself, you should be comfortable.

At the end of the practice, imagine your present day. Promise yourself to use this day for self-development, to help people and to keep your inner balance in any circumstances. Give yourself an inner installation that today you will try to control your speech and not lose your temper.

Now join your palms in namaste and mentally thank all those people who helped you in life. And in this state, slowly open the manhole.

By practicing this meditation daily, you will see positive changes in your life. Try to carve out this half hour every day to meet with yourself. After all, this practice will make not only you, but also your loved ones happier.
